We generally recommend using rumble blocks for our driveways which come in various colours and sizes although alternative materials are available. Once the driveway has been excavated we lay membrane where necessary and type one road stone to a minimum of 7 - 9 inches before the blocks are laid to stop sinkage.
Should the driveway contain a man hole cover this is no problem as it can be replaced using a sunken cover incorporating the same blocks as the driveway making it virtually invisible!
